The owner and manager of a Chinese restaurant in Cheektowaga has pleaded guilty before Chief U.S. District Judge William M. Skretney Jr. to harboring illegal aliens for commercial advantage and private financial gain, U.S. Attorney William J. Hochul Jr. reports.

Prosecutors said Department of Homeland Security investigators discovered that Wan Qin Lu, of Cheektowaga, was employing two illegal immigrants from Mexico in the Easy Z Wok Restaurant in the Walden Galleria Food Court.

Federal agents also discovered that the two Mexicans were living in the basement of Lu’s home and found that he was paying them in cash, avoiding payroll taxes.

Lu faces a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine when he appears for sentencing Jan. 14 before Skretny.
