Delevan woman, 70, killed in motorcycle accident

FARMERSVILLE – A 70-year-old Delevan woman died of injuries sustained Sunday when she was ejected from a motorcycle that failed to negotiate a curve in the Town of Farmersville, state police in Machias reported.

Janet Lexer was a passenger on a motorcycle operated by Richard Kruse, 73, also of Delevan. Both were airlifted to Erie County Medical Center, where Lexer died of head injuries sustained in the 4 p.m. accident.

Initial investigation revealed that the motorcycle had been heading northbound on Route 16 when it left the roadway on a curve and struck an earth embankment, ejecting both the operator and passenger.

Kruse was listed in stable condition with neck injuries.
