CAMBRIA – A Lockport man has been charged with violating Leandra’s Law for driving while impaired with children in his vehicle.
Eric V. Heiman, 33, was arrested at 11:45 a.m. Friday following a crash on Saunders Settlement Road. Deputies said he was westbound when his vehicle struck an embankment. There were three children, ages 1, 5 and 7 years, in the vehicle at the time of the crash.
No children were injured, Niagara County deputies said. However, Heiman was taken by ambulance to Eastern Niagara Hospital in Lockport, suffering from unspecified injuries. He was charged with driving while impaired by drugs, first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, endangering the welfare of a child and speeding.
