Family restaurant on drawing board for Olean

OLEAN – Olean could be getting a new family restaurant.

John F. Bean, who owns the property at 302 and 306 Wayne St., has filed an application with the city to combine the lots and rezone them from residential to commercial for the construction of a new family restaurant franchise yet to be named.

Bean told members of the city Zoning Board of Appeals that he also needs to acquire a neighboring property to allow for the space needed to build the facility and have adequate parking.

A public hearing has been set by the board for 6:35 p.m. Sept. 12 in Room 119 of the city Municipal Building, 101 E. State St.

Bean was asked by the board to be ready to provide a full detailing of his plans for the facility, including neighborhood impact and traffic studies. The plans would locate the new facility to the west of Abbott Welding Supply, on Wayne Street, and just across the railroad tracks form the Olean Intermediate/Middle School.
