LOCKPORT – A native of the former Soviet Union will not face deportation after being placed on five years’ probation Thursday in a felony driving while intoxicated case.

Niagara County Judge Matthew J. Murphy III imposed the sentence on Vasiliy V. Kayutkin, 41, of Wheatfield-Pendleton Town Line Road, Wheatfield.

A permanent resident of the U.S., Kayutkin was drunk on Oct. 29, 2011, when his auto rear-ended another at a red light at Erie Avenue and Zimmerman Street in North Tonawanda, causing a three-vehicle chain-reaction crash in which three people were hurt.
