Buffalo man who hit motorcyclist arraigned

A Buffalo man accused of hitting a motorcyclist while driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol was arraigned in Erie County court Tuesday morning, District Attorney Frank A. Sedita III announced.

Patrick Burke, 49, of Scott Street, was charged with three counts of vehicular assault for allegedly hitting Joshua Karczewski, 31, on June 1 after turning onto Spindrift Drive from Main Street in Williamsville, authorities said. Karczewski’s leg was amputated as a result of the collision, according to Sedita.

Police said Burke’s blood alcohol content was .16, and he was also found to be under the influence of cocaine, officials said.
