A Buffalo man was sentenced Monday to 15 days in jail for scamming a Cheektowaga resident out of $700 in July 2011.

Keith L. Knox, 42, of Wheelock Street, will serve his sentence in Erie County Correctional Facility for his guilty plea to disorderly conduct. The reduced plea was offered because Knox made restitution to the victim.

Knox took a deposit of $700 and agreed to install a fence at the victim’s home but never showed up to do the work. Cheektowaga Town Justice Paul Piotrowski, who delivered the maximum sentence, said Knox violated the trust placed in him and also had a criminal record.
