Soccer Shots: Summer soccer program for kids ages 2 to 8, 9 to 10:30 a.m. Saturdays and 3 to 4:30 p.m. Sundays and 3 to 4:30 p.m. Wednesdays in Delaware Park. geology hike: 10 a.m. to noon next Saturday, Hunter’s Creek gorge at Kenneglenn Nature Preserve in the Town of Wales. The hike will be led by Stan Radon, a geologist with the state Department of Environmental Conservation. Free and open to the public, but attendees must register in advance by calling the host, WNY Land Conservancy, at 687-1225 or emailing The hike is appropriate for people of all ages. Please be prepared to walk in the creek with shoes that have great traction. Parking is available at the Kenneglenn Nature Preserve in front of the Land Conservancy office. A map and directions will be shared with those who register.

falls fireworks: In celebration of the 75th anniversary of the Niagara Falls Bridge Commission and the 50th anniversary of the Lewiston-Queenston Bridge, a special 12-minute fireworks display will take place over Niagara Falls at 10 p.m. Friday. The bridge commission also has launched an anniversary website at, and is also selling anniversary T-shirts with proceeds supporting select regional food banks.

gospel festival and health fair: Outdoor event canceled by July thunderstorm has been rescheduled for noon to 6 p.m. next Saturday at the Oasis Shelter in Hyde Park, Hyde Park Boulevard, Niagara Falls. Hosted by Queen of Gospel Pat Ragin and features performances by The New Gospel Times of Rochester, Buffalo’s Men in White and DayStar, Fresh Start Ministry, Sanctified Flow, the Shekinah Dancers of Potter’s House and Tamea Chaney. OG Cruisers Car Show and health screenings from noon to 3 p.m. by Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center staff also are part of the event.
