Waiting until the last minute is no way to fix ailing schools

As State Education Commissioner John B. King Jr. told the Buffalo School Board, why have you waited until the 11th hour to address the issue of the two Buffalo schools that are under-performing? The question at hand is, Why can’t the School Board fix the issues within?

What the students need is strong leaders who won’t throw their hands up. If the School Board is looking for better-performing schools, what better place than to lead by example.

The answer is not to transfer the students, but to develop an acceptable corrective action plan to achieve good standing. Why transfer students to other schools and transfer the problems with them? Don’t the children and parents deserve better?

Parents, here is one solution: Move to the suburbs and pay the exorbitant school taxes that we currently pay. We as suburban taxpayers are not going to pick up the tab.
