Ohol, owner and trainer in horse racing, dies

Brenda Ohol of Lockport, who has owned and trained harness horses with her husband at Batavia Downs and Buffalo Raceway for many years, died Sunday in Eastern Niagara Hospital after a long battle with amyotrophic lateral Sclerosis (Lou Gehrig’s) disease.

Mrs. Ohol began training in 1991 and had 690 winenrs earning $2,847,997 in purse money. Some of her top race horses were Open pacers, Adelia’s Prince, Omnibus, Heartland Overload and New York Sire States trotter Collier St. Bobby.

Calling hours will be 4-7 p.m. on Thursday at Childs Funeral Home, LLC, 10 Eckerson Ave., Akron. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday at St. Teresa RC Church in Akron.
