WARSAW – The Stage, a theater in downtown Warsaw operated by the not-for-profit WNY Performance Center, has kicked off a fundraising drive to purchase a digital movie projector.
A preliminary goal of $15,000 has been set for a down payment, and a campaign has been launched on IndieGoGo to raise $8,000 by Oct. 4. So far, the theater has received $2,662 in contributions.
The theater, which also hosts live performances, depends on revenue from movies to stay open. It needs a digital projector because Hollywood studios are phasing out the distribution of 35mm film. Contributions can be made online at http://igg.me/at/savethestage/x/4161756 or by mail to 23 S. Main St., Warsaw, NY 14569.
