Orchard Park Police will be issuing warnings about open containers of alcohol to Buffalo Bills fans at Friday night’s preseason home game.

The Town Board adopted an open container/public consumption law in May that prohibits open containers of alcohol on public streets, sidewalks and other town-owned property. The board amended an existing ordinance to prohibit beer and wine in parks unless a permit is obtained.

Police Chief Mark Pacholec said officers will be letting people know about the new law at the first two preseason home games.

“This is just going to be informational, letting people know what is coming,” he said.

Violators will be issued warnings for the first two games, although police will keep track of who they have warned, Assistant Police Chief E. Joseph Wehrfritz said.

In school news, incoming kindergarten students can take a ride on a school bus this week, prior to the first day of school. Lincoln Ave. They will be held Monday through Friday, starting at 10 a.m. each day and continuing every half hour until noon.
