SANBORN – Two employees returning from their lunch break are credited with foiling the theft of scrap metal on Friday, Niagara County sheriff’s deputies said.

The employees spotted a car behind the CFI building on Cory Drive shortly after 1 p.m. and noticed two people attempting to load a 300-pound steel plate into the vehicle. The plate was valued at $400.

Police arrested Courtney M. Hescox, 31, and Shane M. Hescox, 34, both of Ninth Street, Niagara Falls, on charges of petit larceny.
