OLEAN – Sen. Charles E. Schumer, D-N.Y., visited the Olean Campus of Jamestown Community College on Tuesday to highlight his support for the America Works Act, which would give priority in federal funding to community college programs that prepare students for high-tech manufacturing jobs.

Schumer, who was joined by Cattaraugus County business leaders, Olean Mayor Linda Witte and JCC President Gregory T. DeCinque, noted that companies in the Southern Tier Manufacturing Alliance, such as Cutco, Dresser-Rand, Scott Rotary Seals and Cooper Industries, have been unable to find skilled workers for jobs.
