Kathleen Wilkie, longtime insurance agent

Kathleen Wilkie, a longtime Western New York insurance agent, died Wednesday in Rochester after a brief illness. She was 55.

Born Kathleen Gallego in Silver Creek, she was raised in Lackawanna, where she graduated from Lackawanna High School in 1976. She earned a bachelor’s degree in communications from the University at Buffalo.

In 1975, she began working in the insurance industry with her father, Michael Gallego, continuing in his office until 1999 ,when she started the G&W Agency in West Seneca.

In 2006, she opened the Allstate agency in the Abbott Road Plaza in Lackawanna.

She worked closely throughout her career with other family members in the insurance industry, including her siblings Michael J. Gallego and Mary Louise Gallego, as well as her uncle, James Fazzolari.

She is survived by her husband, Dan Wilkie; four daughters, Mary Frances, Kim Miles, Dina and Kristina; a son, Patrick; her mother, Mary Lou Gallego; a brother, Michael; and three sisters, Caroline, Mary Louise and Francine Ruof.

A Mass of Christian Burial was offered Monday in Our Lady of Victory Basilica, Lackawanna.
