First Niagara Bank has opened a temporary branch at 1031 Main St., at North Street, replacing a branch that closed at 973 Main St., at High Street.
All of the closed branch’s employees have transferred to the temporary branch. First Niagara had acquired the 973 Main location in its deal for HSBC Bank USA’s upstate branches.
The temporary branch will remain open until a permanent location is built as part of the Conventus building on the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus. Conventus is set to open in early 2015.
First Niagara gave the .85-acre parcel at 973 Main to the University at Buffalo for $1. UB is using the property in the construction of its new School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences.
