SANBORN – The state Public Service Commission has scheduled public hearings for Wednesday on a request by Cambria Asphalt Products to construct a natural gas supply line to its Junction Road plant in Lockport.

The hearings are set for 3:30 and 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in West Street Elementary School, 5700 West St., Sanborn.

The company, a subsidiary of Medina-based Shelby Stone, produces asphalt, and wants to switch from waste oil to natural gas as its power source.

The 2,000-foot underground line, 4 to 6 inches in diameter, would tap into a gas supply line owned by Lockport Energy Associates to bring gas to its cogeneration power plant east of the asphalt plant.

The line is to be built by a new entity called Niagara Gas Transport of Lockport.
