Dave Brubeck is honored by the BPO and his sons, Chris, left, and Dan, in concert Friday.

Dave Brubeck loved Buffalo, and Buffalo loves him back. The Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra pays tribute to the late, great jazzman by welcoming the Brubeck Brothers Quartet, which features Brubeck’s sons Chris (on bass and trombone) and Dan (on drums). They will play hits like “Take Five” and “Blue Rondo a la Turk” – and to complete the picture, they’ll be welcoming, as a special guest, Bobby Militello. Militello played many times with Brubeck, and surely Brubeck’s spirit will not be far away. Militello performs also at the post-concert party. In tribute to Brubeck’s formative years on a California ranch, the Whole Hog Food Truck will be on hand.

The BPO’s Tribute to Dave Brubeck takes place at 7 p.m. Friday in Kleinhans Music Hall. Admission is $19-$49. For info, call 885-5000.
