Niagara University hockey will open season Oct. 5

Niagara University will open its 2013-14 season with home games against Clarkson, Oct. 5 and 6 at Dwyer Arena, in a schedule announced Wednesday by hockey head coach Dave Burkholder.

The first Atlantic Hockey game for the Purple Eagles will be against Canisius on Oct. 12 at Dwyer. Niagara will follow that with five road games, at Robert Morris, Denver, Air Force and two at Ohio State. Other November road games are at Michigan and Cornell.

Niagara will face Canisius home-and-home on Feb. 7 at Dwyer and Feb. 8 at Buffalo State and close the regular season at home against Air Force on March 1. The Atlantic Hockey playoffs will begin on March 7 with the top four teams receiving byes. The AHA semifinals and championship game will be March 21-22 at Blue Cross Arena in Rochester.
