Two Jet Skis collide in Niagara River; one teen hurt

No serious injuries were reported when Jet Skis operated by two 16-year-old boys collided in the Niagara River off Grand Island on Monday evening, Erie County sheriff’s officials reported.

The operator of one watercraft was ejected after turning his vessel quickly, causing the other vehicle to strike it, at about 6:30 p.m., just south of Buckhorn State Park, authorities said.

The ejected teen was helped by a good samaritan until the Grand Island Fire Marine Unit arrived on the scene. Emergency personnel immobilized the youth, before he was taken to Erie County Medical Center with apparent minor injuries, sheriff’s officials said.
