Earth, Wind & Fire brings funk and soul to Seneca Niagara Casino

No African-American band from the 1970s this side of Parliament Funkadelic has left a more indelible mark on popular music than Earth, Wind & Fire. By fusing funk, soul, R&B, rock and even disco with pop stylings, EW&F created a string of timeless albums and evergreen hit singles during its first decade together, in the process influencing everyone from Prince to D’Angelo and Genesis. That the band remains a potent force today needs no further endorsement than the one provided by President Obama, who invited Earth Wind & Fire to perform at the White House.

With the core personnel of bassist Verdine White, singer Phillip Bailey and drummer Ralph Johnson still in place, Earth, Wind & Fire remains a significant concert draw. The band performs at 8 p.m. Saturday in the Seneca Niagara Casino Events Center, Niagara Falls. Tickets start at $75 (box office, Ticketmaster).
