McCarthyizm hosts its annual holiday party and benefit for Friends of the Night People beginning at 9 p.m. Saturday in Nietzsche’s (248 Allen St.).

This year, in addition to McCarthyizm’s spirited blend of folk, rock and Celtic music, listeners will be treated to sets from A Potter’s Field, the Jim Whitford Band, the Ifs, Paul Weisenburger, Poor Ould Goat, Breckenwood and Megan Callahan. That’s a richly diverse lineup of killer Buffalo musicians, all gathered in service of Friends of the Night People, which provides food and warm clothing to the homeless.

The music will be continuous, spread between two stages, all evening long. According to McCarthyizm frontman Joe McCarthy, attendees who bring a nonperishable food item or a piece of clothing – warm coats are especially needed at this time of year – will “receive a break at the door.” Additional information is available through
