SEWERT, Berenice (Male)

SEWERT - Berenice (nee Male)
Age 94, died peacefully June 28, 2012 with her family by her side. Born Arleen Carlson on February 11, 1918, she was adopted by George and Carolyn (Wohlschlagel) Male, on October 9, 1918. She attended the Fosdick Madison High School and earned a Master of Education at S.U.N.Y Buffalo. On November 20, 1941, she married Jack Fred Sewert, son of George and Louise (Doster) Sewert. Berenice was a member of the Tyrian Chapter of Eastern Star in Buffalo and Richards Chapter in Marion. She served as Matron of both Chapters and D.D.G.M. of the Wayne District. She was also an active member of the United Church of Marion. In 1973 Berenice was reunited with her natural mother Blanche Larson, brothers Wallace and Eugene Larson and sister Betty (Larson) DuPriest, all of whom predeceased her. She is also predeceased by her devoted mother Carolyn Male and husband Jack F. Sewert. Survived by two sons, Craig (Joan) Sewert of Marion, David (Ann) Sewert of Newark; grandchildren Michael (Lynn) Sewert, Renee Evans, Christopher Sewert, Ronald (Gina) Specht, Shelly (Joe) Connors, Sara (Dan) Weaver, Rachel (Scott) Kuperus; great-grandchildren Michael and George Sewert, Angela Pata, Stephanie Sewert, Wendy Evans, Casey Johnson, Zayna Weaver, Levi Weaver, Henrik Kuperus; sister-in-law Patricia Sewert; and several nieces and nephews. Family and friends may call at the United Church, 3848 Main Street, in Marion, Friday, July 6 from 4-7 PM and Saturday from 10 to 11 am, with the funeral service following at 11:00. An Eastern Star Service will be held on Friday at 4:00 PM. Interment will be in the Marion Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the United Church of Marion, P.O. Box 52, Marion, New York 14505.
