Patrick M. Butterson of Getzville, a longtime CSX Transportation locomotive engineer in Buffalo and president, board member and coach of the Tonawanda Football Clinic, died Wednesday in Hospice Buffalo, Cheektowaga, after a short illness. He was 48.
Born in Buffalo, Mr. Butterson graduated from Kenmore West High School in 1981 and married the former Karen Ralston in September.
He worked as a locomotive engineer at CSX for 24 years and prided himself on calling in sick only once.
Mr. Butterson joined the Tonawanda Football Clinic as a board member five years ago and went on to serve as president. He also was a coach for the Tonawanda Braves football team until becoming ill.
In addition to his wife, survivors include two daughters, Katie and Megan; a son, Danny; his parents, Ronald and MaryJane "DiRe"; and three sisters, Colleen Zydel, Elizabeth Whitmer and Cheryl Kerling.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday in St. Christopher Catholic Church, 2660 Niagara Falls Blvd., Town of Tonawanda.
