The seventh annual Buffalo Citybration, a celebration to showcase the city's assets, will be held Thursday through Sunday.
This year's celebration focuses on Buffalo's waterfront and is expected to be bigger than ever, packing 17 events into four days.
Marti Gorman, executive director of Citybration, says the waterfront is emerging as one of Buffalo's top draws.
"It's made such great strides that we want to showcase it," she said. "Many people don't even know our downtown is on the waterfront. It's a very beautiful asset."
Citybration is a grass-roots event, with the work done by volunteers and without public funding. This year, there are 78 volunteers working on the 17 events.
Gorman said she doesn't know of another event like Citybration, especially in Buffalo.
"This is our celebration, our city and our party," she said. "We need to celebrate Buffalo."
