FAST COMPANY -- The annual Dash for Dad 5K Race moves this year to the date where it belongs -- Father's Day. Sponsored by Western New York Urology Associates, Cancer Care of Western New York and ZERO -- the Project to End Prostate Cancer, it also includes a one-mile walk and starts at 9 a.m. Sunday in Delaware Park.
Register today at www.greatprostatecancerchallenge.com/races/buffalo, and it's $25, $30 thereafter. Signup for the walk is $10. Race day registration starts at 7:30 a.m. Raise $50 in donations and your registration fee is waived. A pancake breakfast will be held for all participants after the race.
BEAKS AND TALONS -- Rise of the Raptors, a program featuring predator birds, will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday in Hawk Creek Wildfire Center, 655 Luther Road, East Aurora. Hawks, owls, falcons, vultures and eagles are among the birds on display. Youngsters can earn a free gift by retrieving collectible Raptors cards. Tickets are $10 adults, $9 vets and seniors, $8 children, $26 for a family pass. Parking is free.
BARGAIN TIME -- A huge outdoor flea market will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday on the grounds of the Boies-Lord Home Museum, 5853 South Park Ave., Hamburg. The Greek Revival pre-Civil War home will be open to visitors during the sale.
STOCK UP -- St. Lawrence Catholic Church, 1520 E. Delavan Ave., will hold a meat raffle from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday. Tickets are $5, which includes beer, pop and snacks.
A GOOD SMOKE -- The Ukrainian Culture Center Dnipro, 562 Genesee St., will host a Cigar Night fundraiser at 7 p.m. Saturday. Admission is $20 and includes two free drinks. A variety of premium cigars will be offered for purchase, and there will be scotch and cognac tasting. The kitchen will offer beef on weck, pyrohy and sausages. Proceeds benefit building renovations. CRUISE IN -- Burgard High School's staff and students will hold their Sixth Annual Peter Fleck Memorial Car Show from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday at the school, 400 Kensington Ave. Registration is $15, and all vehicles will receive a trophy. NIBBLING WILD -- Eating off the land will have a gourmet touch as Friends of Reinstein Nature Preserve hold their Meander in the Woods fundraiser from 4:30 to 8 p.m. Saturday in the preserve at 93 Honorine Drive, Cheektowaga.
A trail walk through the woods will include appetizers with ingredients that grow wild there. A barbeque dinner catered by Famous Dave's will follow, accompanied by music from the Pointless Brothers.
