Built to thrill

Indie-rock and power-pop fans, rejoice. This Thursday at the Harbor's for you, as two seminal alternative, guitar-based acts originating in the 1990s team up to let their six-strings do the talking.

The gorgeous stacked, angular guitar harmonies of Built To Spill's Doug Martsch have provided the soundtrack to many an indie-rocker's sunshine daydream, and Matthew Sweet's lambent blend of California pop and good ol' guitar noise has endeared him to a generation of aspiring songwriters. Put the two together, add next-generation Canadian indie-rockers Hey Rosetta!, and you've got a dream bill. For free!

Note that Sweet is on tour celebrating the 20th anniversary of his landmark "Girlfriend" album, so expect to hear a good chunk of that record! The music starts at 5 p.m. Thursday.
