Clarence's Cat Peters shot a 3-over 75 Saturday and is tied for fourth place after the first round of the New York State High School Federation Girls Golf Championship in Delhi.
Peters is three shots behind Mercy's Christine Schmitt. Danielle Fuss of Rochester Mercy shot 73 followed by Northport's Krissy Unger at 74 and Peters and Syosset's Elizabeth Choi at 75.
Peters is one of nine golfers from Section VI competing in the two-day event. Lancaster's Chelsea Dantonio (83) is tied for 19th while Clarence's Jackie Kim is tied for 28th (86).
Canisius crew falls short
Canisius' varsity eight finished third (6:15.11) in a repechage heat Saturday and failed to qualify for the semifinals in the U.S. Youth Rowing Championships in Oak Ridge, Tenn. The Crusaders' eight had finished third in a qualifying heat Friday in 6:06.349.
