The Buffalo Geological Society re-elected Robert Hoffman president for 2012-2013.

Other officers include: first vice president, Joe Sullivan; second vice president, Janet Barton; recording secretary, Dale Russell; corresponding secretary, Craig Posmantur; and treasurer, Richard Phillips. Directors: William Broad, Joe Butch, Mark Castner and Maryann Saccomando-Freedman.

Cradle Beach Camp in Angola promoted Diane Martorana to director of corporate relations. Martorana has served as the event coordinator for the past eight years.

Also, the camp named Christine Wilson administrative/event assistant.

Jill Nowicki, historic preservation specialist with Clinton Brown Co., recently presented a workshop in Albany at the annual Museums in Conversation conference sponsored by Museumwise and the Museum Association of New York. The topic was "(Re)Visioning Your Historic Museum Buildings for New and Diverse Audiences: Historic Headache or Historic Asset? How to look at, plan and find funding for your collection's largest and most valuable artifact, your historic building."

Tactus Technologies, a Getzville company specializing in virtual reality training, was awarded a $149,160 Small Business Innovation Research grant by the National Institutes of Health for the development of a new 3-D cadaver-exploration software called Mobile Cadaver Lab, designed specifically for the mobile tablet market.
