Two more local baseball prospects were selected in the Major League Baseball Draft on Wednesday in Niagara University outfielder Wynton Bernard and Niagara County Community College's Chris Barczykowski.
Barczykowski (Alden) was taken by Atlanta in the 25th round while Bernard was selected by San Diego in the 35th round. A right-hander, the 6-foot-8, 250-pound Barczykowski pitched for NCCC in 2011 and was the 839th player taken.
The 6-foot Bernard, the 1,065th player selected, is the first Niagara player to be drafted since Jeff Vincent was selected by the Boston Red Sox in 2006.
Barczykowski and Bernard's selections come a day after University at Buffalo catcher Tom Murphy was drafted by Colorado in the third round.
