Nixon Peabody partner David M. Schraver has assumed the role of president-elect of the New York State Bar Association. He will become the association's 116th president next June. Schraver has been active in the association for more than 30 years.

HealthNow New York, doing business as BlueCross BlueShield of Western New York and BlueShield of Northeastern New York, reappointed Thomas Hook chairman of the board. Hook is president, chief executive officer and board director of Greatbatch Inc.

Also, Don Boswell, president and CEO of WNED, was reappointed vice chairman of the board. Other board members include Gene Burleson, Jon Cooper, Craig Duncan, John Canavan, Dr. Wesley Hicks Jr. and Dr. James K. Reed.

Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo appointed the following as U.S. commissioners to the Niagara Falls Bridge Commission, the binational board that oversees three international bridges over the Niagara River: Kathleen Neville, a public relations professional and former executive director of Shea's Performing Arts Center; Russell Quarantello, of Lewiston, business manager of IBEW Local 237; and Francis Soda, of Niagara Falls, retired social studies teacher at Niagara Falls High School.

They join commission Vice Chairman Thomas G. Pryce and the four Canadian commissioners: Chairman Michael Goodale, Ernest Smith, Janice Thomson and Kenneth Loucks.
