Buffalo Seminary junior Charlotte Jacobs beat more than 150 riders in four classes to take first place at the Ronnie Mutch Equitation Championship at the Devon Horse Show in Devon, Pa.

The Devon show is the oldest and largest outdoor multi-breed horse show in the nation.

Jacobs, from East Aurora, is just the second rider to win the Mutch title in consecutive years and is eligible to compete again in 2013.

GOLF: Play Golf America Day is coming to Holiday Valley on June 17. The event will be held from 12-3 p.m. and will include free equipment testing and free instruction. Lessons will be conducted from noon to 2 p.m. by three Western New York section PGA professionals. Several industry-leading equipment manufacturers such as Callaway and Nike will be on site to provide hands-on testing of products on the market today. To register visit

HOCKEY: HockeyBuff senior league is seeking one advanced level team of players 18 and older. The league begins play the week of June 4. Games are played primarily Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Call 837-2051.
