School changes plan to pass out condoms

NEW YORK (AP) -- A Brooklyn high school will no longer distribute condoms to students leaving their prom.

The principal of Bedford-Stuyvesant Preparatory High School told WABC-TV Saturday that he doesn't want to violate Department of Education policy.

The school had notified parents that it will hand out the condoms on June 7.

The department permits schools to distribute condoms but it's usually done in the nurse's office.
