> Memorial Day masses
Five area Catholic cemeteries will offer special Memorial Day Masses this weekend.
At 10 a.m. today, Masses will be held at Mount Olivet Cemetery, 4000 Elmwood Ave., Town of Tonawanda; Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, 3063 Harlem Road, Cheektowaga; Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 500 Riverdale Ave., Lewiston; and Holy Cross Cemetery, 2900 South Park Ave.
A statue of Venerable Nelson Baker, carved from trees damaged on the 2006 October Surprise snow storm, will be blessed, dedicated and placed at the cemetery entrance.
Queen of Heaven Cemetery, 6843 Tonawanda Creek Road, Lockport, will offer a 10 a.m. Mass and open house.

Urban Christian Ministries has named Alexander J. Wright as executive director.
The Nichols School and Western Governors University graduate holds a law degree from the University at Buffalo School of Law and has more than 12 years experience in working with nonprofit organizations.
Urban Christian Ministries, founded in 1970, is a nondenominational Christian home missionary organization that serves families and youth in Buffalo.
> Breakfast speaker
Cheryl Masaitis will be featured speaker at the next Magnificat breakfast, 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. June 9 in Holiday Inn, 1881 Niagara Falls Blvd., Amherst.

> Final sermon
The Rev. Robert Matlack will deliver his final sermon as pastor of St. James United Church of Christ, 76 Main St., Hamburg, during a 10 a.m. service on June 3.
Matlack is retiring after 28 years as pastor of St. James. The church is looking to hire an interim pastor.
> Pentecost experience
Revival Fires of the EndTimes Ministries will present "Pentecost Experience at the Tabernacle," 2 to 5 p.m., June 3, in The Tabernacle, 3210 Southwestern Blvd., Orchard Park.
Speakers include Pastor Tommy Reid, NFL player Demeris Johnson and law professor and author Ronald D. Anton.

A healing Mass in honor of St. Peregrine, patron saint of cancer patients, will take place at 7 p.m. Tuesday in Fourteen Holy Helpers Catholic Church, 1345 Indian Church Road, West Seneca.
