Toronto's Sattalites touch down

For more than 20 years, the Toronto band the Sattalites has been crafting a virtuosic strain of North American reggae that bears the markings of the band members' widely variegated backgrounds and musical experience. Led by trumpet/flugelhorn player Jo Jo Bennet and his on-stage foil, vocalist/saxophonist Fergus Hambleton, the seven-man band trades in a relaxed, soulful vibe bolstered by incisive musical interplay and unflinching grooves.

Long a favorite of Buffalo audiences, the band made a name for itself in our city through repeat performances on the rear stage at Nietzsche's (248 Allen St.). It's been a while since the group has graced that venue with its presence, but good things surely come to those who wait -- the Sattalites will take the stage at the fabled Allentown haunt at 9 p.m. Saturday. Call Nietzsche's at 886-8539 for additional information.
