DINOSAUR CSI PRESENTATION: Penn Dixie will present "Dinosaur CSI" at 7 p.m. today in the Gateway Executive Office, 3556 Lake Shore Road, Blasdell. Paleojoe, a paleontologist, author and storyteller from Midland, Mich., will present the techniques used in the investigation of how these prehistoric animals lived and died. SHERIFF'S OPEN HOUSE: The Niagara County Sheriff's Office is holding an open house from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday as part of Police Week. The event includes an Honor Guard presenting the colors, an introduction by Sheriff James R. Voutour, tours of the Niagara County Correctional Facility and Communication Center, and displays of department vehicles, including the helicopter, boats, ATVs and snowmobiles. Specialty teams -- including emergency response and the K-9 unit -- will put on demonstrations. Child-restraint inspections will be offered in the Public Safety Training Facility, 5574 Niagara St. Extension, and the American Red Cross will hold a blood drive there beginning at 9 a.m. Food and beverages will be available to purchase during the day.

ENERGY EFFICIENCY: Natale Builders will host a free 1 1/2 -hour seminar on energy-efficient home construction at 10 a.m. Saturday in the model home at Rivera Greens in Clarence. BOATER SAFETY: Beaver Island State Park will offer a Boater Safety Course from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday at the Beaver Island Clubhouse, Grand Island. Students must be at least 10 years old. The course is free. To register, call 773-3271.

BOATER SAFETY: The Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office will hold a Boater Safety Course from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at St. Timothy Church, 3748 Route 430, Bemus Point. BONSAI EXHIBIT: The Buffalo Bonsai Society will present its annual exhibit from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Buffalo & Erie County Botanical Gardens, 2655 South Park Ave. More than 50 Bonsai trees will be displayed. Demonstrations at 1 p.m. each day. Bonsai trees will be available for purchase in the sales area. Admission to Botanical Gardens is $9 adults; $8 seniors/students; and $5 children 3 to 12.

MOTORCYCLE RIDE: The Wheatfield American Legion Riders of Post 1451 will ride at noon Saturday, Armed Forces Day, to benefit Niagara Hospice's "We Honor Veterans" initiative. Riders will depart the post at 6525 Ward Drive, Sanborn, to go to the Lewiston Moose Lodge, the Wilson Boat House and then to Hospice. WILDFLOWER HIKE: The Western New York Land Conservancy will host a Wildflower Hike from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Frank L. and Julia Dersham Young Niagara Escarpment Preserve on Leete Road, Lockport.
