Girl, 17, charged with DWI after two-vehicle crash

PENDLETON -- A 17-year-old Ransomville girl was found lying in a ditch about an eighth of a mile from a two-vehicle crash that occurred early Tuesday, Niagara County sheriff's officials said.

The teen, whose name wasn't released by authorities, was taken to Erie County Medical Center with lacerations and possible internal injuries. She also was charged with drunken driving.

Authorities received a 911 call at about 4:20 a.m. Tuesday from a Bear Ridge Road resident reporting a crash in front of his home.

Responding deputies found two badly damaged vehicles, both unoccupied. The girl later was found in the ditch, and officials believe her vehicle struck two mailboxes and a parked vehicle. She then tried to flee in her badly damaged vehicle, before getting out and walking down the road.

The girl was charged with driving while intoxicated and leaving the scene of a property-damage accident.


Stolen delivery truck carried medical supplies

WHEATFIELD -- A delivery truck loaded with medical supplies was stolen from Health Systems Services on Williams Road overnight Tuesday, the Niagara County Sheriff's Office reported.

The owner told deputies that sometime overnight a 2006 Chevrolet service van, parked in the northeast corner of the lot at 6867 Williams Road, was stolen. He said the truck contained $3,000 worth of medical supplies the company had planned to deliver to Jamestown that day.

The thieves also damaged the driver's side lock and steering column of a 2009 Chevrolet van as they tried to steal that, according to deputies.

Total loss and damage was listed at $19,000.


One killed in collision of van, tractor-trailer

SHERIDAN -- John Dillenburg, the former Arkwright town supervisor, was killed Tuesday when his handicapped-accessible van and a tractor-trailer collided on Route 20 and South Roberts Road.

The Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office said Route 20 was closed for about three hours after the crash, which occurred at about 3:45 p.m.

No tickets were issued after the crash.


Assault and promoting prison contraband charged

A West Ferry Street woman was charged with assault and promoting prison contraband this week after allegedly beating up a man during an early morning fight in her apartment and forgetting to discard a glass crack cocaine pipe before being taken to the Erie County Holding Center.

Thelma Davis, 56, was arrested by Buffalo Police Officers Dustin Johnson and Lamar McCulley in her flat in the 400 block of East Ferry at about 5 a.m. Monday.

She was charged with third-degree assault and harassment, as well as criminal possession of a controlled substance and promoting prison contraband, according to a police report.


Arrest made in threat with BB gun in Falls

NIAGARA FALLS -- A Fifth Street man was charged with threatening a man with a BB gun.

Edward M. Bloom, 20, was charged with second-degree menacing at 1:30 p.m. Monday in the 1400 block of Ferry Avenue.

A 19-year-old victim told police that Bloom punched him on the right side of his face, then pulled a black handgun from his backpack and threatened to kill him.

When police arrived, Bloom was near the scene arguing with the victim and his relatives. Police found him carrying a black air pistol BB gun.

The victim said he was not injured.


Violent argument leads to multiple charges

A Hazelwood Avenue man was charged with attempted murder, burglary and weapons counts after he allegedly tried to kill a Gibson Street man during a violent argument last week.

Jabriel Crews, 28, was arrested Monday by Buffalo Police Officers Brian Griffin and Dennis Gilbert in the 600 block of East Ferry Street.

Crews is accused of arguing with the man in the backyard of the man's house at about 12:30 a.m. May 8, then firing several gunshots into the house. He also is accused of forcing his way into the house looking for the man he was arguing with, police said.


Man accused of knocking boy off bike, stealing it

A Buffalo man was charged with knocking a boy off his bike on Seneca Street near Ryan Street and riding off with it about 12:20 p.m. Tuesday, police said. Allen Jones, 31, of Concord Street, was charged with third-degree robbery.


House fire on Roehrer routs 2 adults, 7 children

Fire swept through a house on Roehrer Avenue on Tuesday evening, leaving two adults and seven children without a place to stay, fire officials said.

The blaze was reported at about 7:15 p.m. at 291 Roehrer. No injuries were reported, but the fire caused about $40,000 damage to the house at 291 Roehrer.
