Holland Motor Sports Speedway will be donating proceeds from ticket sales for a Memorial Day weekend event to benefit WNYHeroes, an organization devoted to assisting disabled veterans and troops.
The NASCAR-sanctioned racing is set to begin at 4 p.m. May 26, according to Holland Motor Sports Speedway general Manager Tim Bennett.
"We feel honored and privileged to host this event for those who gave so much for us to preserve the freedoms that we enjoy in our great nation," Bennett said.
WNYHeroes provides financial assistance for disabled veterans and referrals to vital services to help them and their families get back on track.
In addition to a full slate of NASCAR races, Bennett said, there will be a special patriotic theme presented throughout the day.
The "honorary host" for the event will be Iraq War veteran and Purple Heart recipient Christopher Kreiger, founder and president of WNYHeroes.
"This is something that will not only be a tremendous benefit to WNYHeroes, but it will also be a lot of fun for families and friends to come out and show their support," said Kreiger.
WNYHeroes, he said, is urging the members of the veterans, police, and fire communities along with business leaders to support the Memorial Day weekend event.
For further information on tickets and other ways to help the event, Kreiger can be reached at 630-5020. Also, more information can be found at the organization's website, www.wnyheroes.org.
