A Manhattan-headquartered publishing company with global distribution is increasing its presence in Buffalo.
Rosen Publishing cut the ribbon on a newly expanded office on the second floor of the former AAA building at 976 Delaware Ave. on Friday.
"In these tough economic times, it is so encouraging to grow and thrive," said Roger Rosen, the company's president.
Rosen Publishing produces educational, non-fiction books for children in pre-kindergarten through grade 12, publishing more than 1,000 books, e-books and databases each year.
The Buffalo office's staff has tripled in size since its inception, now employing 18 editors, graphic artists, researchers and writers. The company employs 150 people who work from its New York offices and remotely around the country.
"Rosen Publishing is a big deal," said Mayor Byron Brown. "It's a pretty big company in New York City, and I think Roger Rosen has really fallen in love with the City of Buffalo."
Officials said success stories like Rosen Publishing are what will revitalize Buffalo.
"We're not looking for that one silver bullet," said Ellicott Council Member Darius Pridgen. "We're looking for all of our businesses like this one to grow."
The Buffalo office is Rosen's only satellite location, landing here after the company's vice president, Gina Hayn, relocated to Western New York with her husband. It originally opened in Dunkirk in 1999, before moving to Buffalo two years later.
The company has partnerships with local school districts and libraries.
