BAIER - John "Jack"
Age 68, of Corinth, TX, passed away Monday May 7, 2012 in Denton at the Denton Regional Medical Center. He was born October 6, 1943 in Buffalo, New York to Harry E. and Florence (Manno) Baier. Jack holds an engineering degree from GMI (Kettering University), a master's in Counselor Education from SUNY Buffalo and PH.D in Higher Ed. Administration from SIU Carbondale. Prior to joining the faculty of the University of North Texas in 1992, he served as Vice-President for Student Affairs at the University of Alabama, Assist VP for Student Affairs at Texas Tech, Associate Dean for Student Development at the University of Nebraska, and Associate Dean of Student Life at SIU Carbondale. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation to a scholarship program to the university of your choice in memory of his life long dedication to education. He is survived by his mother, Florence Baier Militello, previously of Buffalo, NY and now resides in Corinth, TX. He was preceded in death by his father, Harry Baier and stepfather, Samuel Militello and by several aunts and uncles. He is survived by his wife, Nancy (Runyan) Baier. They married in August, 1965, in Owosso, Michigan. Other survivors are son, John D. Baier and wife Connie Langley of Tuscaloosa, AL; daughter, Karen Baier Goss, and his beloved grandchildren, Virginia Goss and Vada Peterson of Corinth; brother Robert Baier and wife, Corinne; nieces Valerie and husband Harry Maxwell, and Anne Marie and husband Len Perno, and their children Lenny and Mia Perno; and parents-in-law William and Virginia Runyan of Corunna, MI. Visitation will be on Thursday, May 10, from 5 to 7 PM at MULKEY-MASON FUNERAL HOME, 705 N. Locust, Denton, TX. Service will be held at St. Mark Catholic Church on Friday, May 11th at 10 AM in Denton.
