Courtney Bondanza of Gymnastics Unlimited won the silver medal in floor exercise and was fourth on the vault at the Eastern National Gymnastics Championships in Maryland. At the Level 6 State finals, Kaylee Organista won first place on the balance beam and was third in all-around. Payton Rowe was third on the bars, fifth in the beam, sixth in the vault, eighth in floor exercise and second in all-around. Sydney Kaczmarek placed third on the balance beam. The Orchard Park Gymsters team won fifth place.

BASEBALL: Mansfield University is seeking travel teams from the Northeast to participate in baseball tournaments this summer. Age classifications for these events range from 13U to 19U. Eight event weekends are scheduled beginning June 16 at Mansfield University. BASKETBALL: The Frontier Boys Basketball Camp will be held from 9 a.m. to noon July 16-20 for boys entering grades 5-12. The camp, directed by Frontier varsity coach Gary Domzalski, will be held at Frontier High School. Camp includes instruction, contests, team play, T-shirt and awards. Cost is $50. Call the Hamburg Recreation Department at 646-5145 or go to www.townofhamburgny.com. The ninth annual Family 25 Summer Basketball League will run from May 19 through July 7. Games will be played on Saturdays at McCarthy Park. There is a $10 fee per child and $100 fee per team. Three age group divisions (6-8, 9-11, and 12-14) are available for both boys and girls. Each child will receive basketball instruction, a uniform, awards and participation in an end of session fun day picnic in the park. FOOTBALL: The Jim McNally Offensive and Defensive Line Teaching Camp will be July 26-28 at Sweet Home High School, 1901 Sweet Home Rd., Amherst. The camp is for offensive and defensive linemen as well as tight ends. Sessions are Thursday and Friday, 5-8 p.m. and Saturday, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Shoulder pads, helmets, cleats, sneakers and mouth guards are required. GOLF: The sixth annual Lorrie Janese Memorial Golf Tournament and Chinese Auction will be held June 9 with a 12 p.m. shotgun start at Hyde Park Golf Course. An after-party will be held at the LaSalle Sportsman's Club. Entry fee is $75 per person or $300 per team for the four-man scramble format. Entry deadline is Saturday, May 26 and includes 18 holes of golf with cart, pizza at the start, the after-party and dinner for entrants and their guests. Non-golfers are also welcome for the Chinese Auction with tickets on sale at 3 p.m. at the LaSalle Sportsman's Club. RETIREMENT PARTY: A retirement party for Bishop Timon-St. Jude coach and athletic director Jim Palano will be on June 21 at 6 p.m. at Lucarelli's, 1830 Abbott Rd., Lackawanna. The cost is $35 and includes an open bar (wine and beer) and a cash bar for liquor. The buffet dinner and program begin at 7 p.m. Registration deadline is June 7. RUNNING: The Sixth Annual Elephant Run will be held on Sunday at Marcy Casino. All proceeds from the event benefit the Marcena Lozano Donate Life Scholarship Fund awarded to organ transplant recipients. There were more than 600 entries in last year's race.
