COMING UP

COMMUNITY CLEANUP: The 17th annual community cleanup in the Town of Hamburg and villages of Hamburg and Blasdell will take place this morning. Volunteers will meet at Town Hall at 8:30 a.m., where coffee, juice and doughnuts will be provided, then move to different areas of the town for the cleanup. They will return at noon for hot dogs and pop. All ages and groups are invited to participate.

GARDENER ORIENTATION: The Raymond C. Betsch Community Garden Project is hosting a gardener orientation at 4 p.m. today at Second Presbyterian Church, 71 Van Buren St., Lockport. The community garden provides at least 20 raised beds on land next to the church, which belongs to the City of Lockport and Second Presbyterian. The mission of the garden project is to help people grow and share fresh produce and to be an active resource for sustainable organic gardening. SPRING CONCERT: First United Methodist Church, 8210 Buffalo Ave., Niagara Falls, will present its annual Spring Concert at 7 p.m. Sunday in the church. Admission is free. Featured performers include the Chancel Choir and Retired Men's Chorus under the direction of Bud Mayer and special guests. PLOW FEST: The Collins Draft Horse, Ox and Pony Club will celebrate its annual Plowing Festival at 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at Wheater Road and Route 62, Town of Collins. The drawing for the handmade quilt is at 4 p.m. The event is free and features working draft animals, a baked goods sale, auction, crafts, petting zoo, wagon rides, pony rides, various demonstrations, a chicken barbecue and live music by Country Memories. No dogs allowed on the premises.

MOTORCYCLE SWAP AND SHOW: The Hog Farm Production will sponsor its annual motocycle swap and show from noon to 6 p.m. Sunday at Batavia Downs Casino, 8315 Park Road in Batavia. Vendors, motorcycle dealers, promoters and music by Rainman will be featured.

BIKE RALLY: The Orleans County Chapter of American Bikers Aimed Toward Education of New York will hold their annual Motorcycle Safety and Awareness Rally at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Orleans County Courthouse on East State Street and Main Street, Route 98, in Albion. The public is invited to attend this free rally.

HERITAGE CORRIDOR: The Michigan Street African American Heritage Corridor Commission will hold a planning session from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in Frederick Douglass Community Center, 234 Jefferson Ave. The meeting will focus on the vision for the revitalization of Michigan Avenue's cultural history.
