Solemn procession: Patriot Guard Riders escort the remains of 12 servicemen, including veterans of World War II and Korea, en route to the Bath National Cemetery for interment from Lombardo Funeral Home on Abbott Road in Orchard Park on Friday. The remains, which were previously unclaimed and stored at various funeral homes, are being properly laid to rest as part of the Patriot Guard Riders Veteran Recovery Program. At right, are the containers of cremated remains, each with an accompanying American flag.

Brown and Consul General of Japan Shigeyuki Hiroki put mulch around a newly planted cherry tree in the Japanese garden at the Erie County Historical Museum. Twenty cherry trees were donated to the City of Buffalo by the Japanese government on the centennial of the gift of cherry trees from Japan to the U.S. in 1912.
