Nova to move into larger facility

A third-party administrator of self-insured health plans that is owned by Independent Health Association is nearly doubling its office space, leasing 18,000 square feet of space in Amherst.

Nova Healthcare Administrators signed a five-year lease with Ciminelli Real Estate Corp. for office space in the Village Park Business Center near Youngs Road. Ciminelli represented the building's owner in leasing the building.

The company will take occupancy almost immediately of the space at 6400 Main St., a two-story office building with 140,000 square feet in all. Originally built for a single occupant, the facility has been converted to handle multiple tenants in the past decade. Other tenants in the building, which is 90 percent occupied, include Fiserv, New York Life and Council Financial.

"We are extremely pleased that Nova Healthcare has chosen to locate their offices at Village Park, and that we were able to accommodate their space requirements so quickly," Robert McDonnell, Ciminelli senior vice president, said in a news release.

Nova -- which Independent Health acquired from First Niagara Financial Group in 2003, sold in 2009 to a new joint venture and then reacquired a year later -- provides administration of medical, dental, flexible spending account, health reimbursement account and COBRA benefits. The company began looking for more office space to accommodate recent growth and business demand.
