OPEN HOUSE: D'Youville College will open its new Center for Professional Studies at 10 a.m. today on the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus in the Innovation Center lobby, 640 Ellicott St. The college leased space for a classroom and offices in the center and is the first college or university in the research and development facility. Continuing-education courses in certified public accounting and leadership are planned for later.

COMMUNITY MEETING: Heart of the City Neighborhoods will host a Lower West Side Community Meeting from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, in Hispanics United of Buffalo's Community Room at 254 Virginia St. The meeting will provide an opportunity for the neighborhood to discuss community empowerment. A representative from Citizens Services will be present to discuss 311, and area nonprofit organizations will provide updates on current initiatives and resources available. This meeting is open to all Lower West Side residents, but focus will be placed on the 14201 ZIP code. Call 882-7661, Ext. 202.

RECEPTION: The public is invited to a community reception for the dedication of the Zenath T. Heintz Community Room and Friends of the Elma Public Library Children's Room from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, in the Elma Public Library, 1860 Bowen Road. Music by the Iroquois Chamber Quartet, children's entertainment and refreshments will be provided.
