RAZZOLINI, Raymond Francis
RAZZOLINI - Raymond Francis Born: Buffalo, NY, February 12, 1934. Died: Destin, Florida, February 23, 2012. Devoted husband for 56 years of Bernice (nee Grandits); loving father of Ronald (Deborah), Debra (Hugh Carlin), John (Megan), Claire (Chet Kozlowski), Robert (Patty); beloved grandchildren Steven, Kerry (late), Alex, Dan, Brendan (Robinson), Andy, Meredith, Madeleine, Ella, Brock and Sophia. Much beloved by nephews, nieces, family and friends. A Flight Engineer in the US Air Force from 1951-55, Ray was stationed in Germany and a member of the USAF championship basketball team. He later joined the Air Force Reserve, retiring after 36 years at the rank of Chief Master Sergeant. He flew over 6000 hours and was activated for service during the Cuban Missile Crisis and Vietnam War. His professional career was spent as a civilian for the Dept of Air Force from 1962-2001 where he held various positions in weapons safety and retired as Chief, Weapons Safety for Air Force Special Operations Command (AFSOC) at Hurlburt Field, Florida. From 1993-2001 he managed AFSOC's sophisticated weapons safety program and was awarded the Commando Safety Medallion for outstanding leadership. He functioned as Air Force authority and subject matter expert on weapons safety to the prestigious USAF Nonnuclear Munitions Safety Board. While quietly proud of his service to his country, he was most proud of his children and grandchildren and particularly enjoyed hosting family and friends at his home on the Gulf of Mexico. A funeral mass was held in Destin and was followed by full Military Honors.
