EnergyMark, a locally owned natural gas and power supply company, headquartered on Corporate Parkway in Amherst, was awarded a multiple-year natural gas supply contract for more than $22 million dollars by New York State. The company will supply the State University of New York campuses, including the University at Buffalo, Buffalo State College, Fredonia State College, Alfred State and the New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University with locally produced natural gas. This local supply will be transported by pipelines directly from shallow vertical wells in New York and Marcellus Shale horizontal wells in Pennsylvania.

Upstate Niagara Cooperative was awarded the All-Star Award at the All-Star Association Convention in recognition of its ongoing leadership in quality and food safety. In addition, the co-op received first, second and fourth place for its cottage cheese products at the 2012 World Championship Cheese Contest.
In partnership with Dunkin' Donuts, the Muscular Dystrophy Association has created the "Make a Muscle, Make a Difference" campaign to support its efforts by collecting donations at Dunkin' Donuts restaurants throughout Buffalo. The program runs through Wednesday. Guests who contribute $1 to the MDA will receive a paper doughnut icon bearing the MDA logo to be displayed on the wall of the Dunkin' Donuts restaurant. All proceeds from the campaign will support the MDA's comprehensive services program for Buffalo families, including youth summer camps, medical equipment, clinics, and support groups; as well as the association's research efforts to find a cure for neuromuscular diseases.
