FISH - Leland "Lee"
Age 83 of Punta Gorda, FL, died April 3, 2012. He was born December 15, 1928 in Buffalo, NY. Lee served in the US Army during WWII as a Paratrooper. He worked for over 30 years as the Chief Physical Therapist at the Buffalo General Hospital and worked throughout his community with the Western NY Multiple Sclerosis Society, with both the Niagara and Erie Counties as well as with the Erie County school system, helping children. He retired in 1993 and moved to Punta Gorda, honoring the promise to bring his wife "back to her hometown". He and his wife Martha Ellen married August 27, 1955 at the First United Methodist Church of Punta Gorda. Locally, Lee was an active member of the Peace River Civil War Roundtable and had a passion for history.
He is survived by his wife Martha Ellen Monson Fish of Punta Gorda, FL; their children, Leland P. (Lisa) Fish, Jr. of Indianola, Iowa; Lisa Ann (Dan) Moore of Indian Lake, NY; William S. (June) Fish of Charlotte, NC; Robert M. (Mary Alice) Fish of Orlando, FL and James T. (Neena) Fish of Fairbanks, Alaska; 11 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brother-in-laws, Homer and William Monson.
A Memorial Service was held Friday, April 6, 2012. Donations would be appreciated to the American Heart Assoc at in memory of Lee. Inurnment will be at the Charlotte Harbor Cemetery at a later date.
