The Niagara County Sheriff's Office and U.S. Marshals Service checked up on Niagara County's 406 sex offenders during "Operation Guardian Angel" in March.
Authorities made several arrests for noncompliance and are currently searching for an at-large offender who is wanted on a warrant.
Marshal Charles Salina of the Western District of New York and Niagara County Sheriff James R. Voutour called the operation, which targeted address verification of all the county's registered sex offenders, a success.
The operation from March 5 to 28 also enlisted Niagara Falls, North Tonawanda and City of Lockport police departments and the Niagara County Probation Department.
Authorities arrested eight sex offenders after determining they were not living at the addresses they reported to the New York State Sex Offender Registry in Albany.
Additionally, the registrations of another 21 offenders were updated, bringing them back into compliance.
Being sought on an outstanding warrant is Jimmie Davis, 36, whose last known address was in Niagara Falls. Davis is a Level 2 sex offender. Anyone with information on Davis is asked to contact the Niagara Falls Police Department at 286-4547.
