Claire A. Wydro, of Williamsville, a registered nurse, died Saturday in Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital, Amherst. She was 89.
Born Claire Olsonowicz in Niagara Falls, she attended Holy Trinity School and St. Mary's High School in Niagara Falls and was a graduate of Millard Fillmore Hospital School of Nursing.
Mrs. Wydro was a nurse in Niagara Falls Memorial Hospital, worked as a nurse for the Erie County Health Department and was a school nurse in public and parochial schools. She also worked as a private duty nurse at Beechwood Nursing Home, Getzville. She retired in the mid-1980s.
Prior to her nursing career, she worked as a buyer for her parents' dry goods store in Niagara Falls.
Active in St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church, she was a member of the Ladies of Charity and the Ladies of the Lord and was part of the prayer group, bereavement breakfast committee and other church organizations.
Her husband of 43 years, John J., a Bell Aerosystems design engineer, died in 1998.
Surviving is a daughter, Carol Jabcuga.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9 a.m. Wednesday in St. Gregory the Great Church, 100 St. Gregory Court at Maple Road, Amherst.
